January
The Chequamegon Theatre
Association is currently on its
49th season at the historic
Rinehart Theatre in Ashland.
They are raising funds to
update their audio board,
audio wiring, and digital
technology to enhance their
performances.

February
Chip in for the Kitchen is a new grant program that the co-op is starting to help local producers access commercial kitchens to create value-added products.

March
Faith In Action connects senior citizens with caring volunteers who provide a variety of services to help the seniors live independently. Due to COVID-19, they have had trouble with their normal fund raising events, and are having to cut their valuable budget. Faith in Actions serves over 100 homes in Ashland County. They are always looking for more volunteers and will be tabling on Saturday March 20th from 10-2pm.

April
Superior Rivers Watershed Association collects water quality data in Lake Superior’s southern watersheds. They are raising funds to help transform their data into user-friendly formats in order to increase stewardship that will better the future of our watersheds. They have since completed their report cards, which you can see here!

May
Forward Horizons works support those with disabilities who seek our services in their pursuit of full citizenship, which we do by helping develop mutual collaborations, honoring the role of each person within their community, and respecting their diverse abilities, hopes, and dreams. Due to COVID-19, they have not been able to host the normal fund raising events and need to bridge this gap to continue their vital services.

June
Friends of the Vaughn helps fun the library’s special programs like to-go literacy and activity kits, science nights, summer reading, and the Book Nook. They work to support the library so both onsite and offsite educational events for community members and families can remain free. The Book Nook has been closed due to COVID-19, so their main funding source has been cut and is in need of more funds.

July
Ashwabay Outdoor Education Foundation gives low and middle class kids, adults, and families the chance to develop skills and community through affordable classes and passes. Their goal is to make their financial assistance program more robust.

August
Ashland County 4-H engages youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of
youth development. In Ashland County, the Leaders Association focuses on providing kids
with opportunities for hands-on learning. We do this by hosting events throughout the year.
Teaching kids about nutrition and how to cook has always been a primary focus of our
events. However, have not always had the funding to provide financial assistance for
families in need or to provide healthy organic options at our events. This grant would
ensure that we could provide quality programs to our 4-H members and the community.

September
The Northwest Workforce Investment Board connects unemployed and underemployed individuals to employment and self-sustaining wages. Funds raised will build capacity to address barriers that individuals experience such as providing childcare, as transportation assistance.

October
Cub Scout Pack 331 is based in Ashland, WI and excited to partner with the Chequamegon Food Co-op! Scouting makes a direct and positive impact on the community by teaching good values and leadership skills to youth. With the funds they raise they will be able to purchase materials for their meetings, pay rental fees, and attend educational outings.

November
Big Water Film Festival takes place annually over a long weekend in early November and features independent films from around the corner and around the world combined with Q&A sessions with filmmakers and producers. Screenings of the festival can be found locally in Ashland, Washburn, Bayfield, and Drummond.

December
Core Community Resources serves senior citizens in northern Bayfield county. Two of their most prominent services are running the Bayfield Food Pantry and sending out care packages to citizen. Their services are free of charge to those who need it.
