Chip in for the Kitchen
“Chip in for the Kitchen” is a new grant funded through the co-op’s chip up program where customers chip their money for community organizations and co-op causes.
Chip in for the Kitchen was created to help fill the holes of our local food system. The Chequamegon Bay has many local farmers and producers, but there are still a lot of products that can not be found by local makers. Chip in for the Kitchen will provide grant funding to local producer to subsidize the cost of using commercial kitchens.
There are not many commercial kitchens in the area, and they are not always the most affordable option, especially for businesses just starting up. The Chequamegon Food Co-op wants to help offset these costs to support our local producers and our local foods economy. The grant is a matching 50/50 grant available for local producers. Funding for this grant will not be available after February 2021, as this February will be the first month of raising funds through our chip program.
