Welcome Gary

On January 21, the Chequamegon Food Co-op appointed vested member Gary Sherman of Port Wing to its board of directors vacant seat. Gary has been a member of The Chequamegon Food Co-op since its founding on the East side. He joined his first food co-op in Madison in 1967 and has belonged to several since, including Willy Street Co-op, where he has been a member since 1998.

Gary is a retired appellate judge who practiced law in Port Wing from 1974-2010. He also spent 12 years representing the Port Wing area in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Along with serving his community throughout his professional career, Gary also was active in serving on the board of the Commonhealth Warehouse Cooperative Association and was a founder of a buying club in Cornucopia, serving as its treasurer.

Gary is passionate about providing his family with high-quality, organic food, especially produce, which has been a focus of his life since the 1960’s.  He looks forward to bringing positive changes to the Chequamegon Food Co-op while serving on it’s board of directors.
