Produce Spotlight: Northcroft Farm

tomatillos

Northcroft Farm currently operates on one acre of land rented from Chris Duke of Great Oak Farm in Mason. Owner Brian Clements has been farming since 2009. He intended to farm after college, but wasn’t planning on starting for several years. After graduation though, Brian had no concrete plans, so he decided to jump into farming right away.

Northcroft Farm produces all sorts of vegetables, including tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, scallions, onions, tomatillos, and garlic. Tomatillos are the farm’s specialty.

Brian hopes to become certified organic in the next few years. He uses cover crops, manure, compost, and crop rotation while avoiding synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

In the future, Brian hopes to add livestock to Northcroft Farms. For now, he happily supplies the Chequamegon Food Co-op with fresh herbs and vegetables.
