Meet the Candidate – Mick
Describe your experience with this cooperative and cooperatives generally.
I joined the co-op shortly after the new store opened and support it with my business. I retired in 2019 and have more time to serve now. I also have been a co-op member of Sewerd Co-op in Minneapolis and the co-op in Burnsville, MN.
Summarize your professional experience and relevant sills. What unique skills, personal qualities, or perspectives will you bring to the board?
I had a 40 year career in finance with about 25 years of that in the food industry. My last role was Vice President of Finance at SunOpta an organic specialist with 24 facilities. I have planned, budgeted and led total quality management efforts.
What’s your vision for the future of our cooperative? What makes you passionate about the co-op and/or its mission?
I want to help continue to expand the ties to local farmers and small producers while bringing more local patrons into membership. I aim to help spread the “localvore” movement.
Why are you interested in serving on the co-op’s board of directors?
I enjoy the energy of the co-op, it’s people and I think I could add to the mix. I love food, especially organic and local!
Add anything else you feel is relevant to your candidacy.
I make my own yogurt, granola, sourdough and cook constantly. I support local farmers directly via farm produce and farm markets.
