On Wednesday, February 26, 2014,General Manager Harold Vanselow signed a contract with Angelo Luppino of Iron Belt, Wis. for the remodeling and construction of the Chequamegon Food Co-op’s new location. Demolition at 700 Main Street West in Ashland, Wis. began on Monday, March 3, 2014.
The project is funded through a community revolving loan from the Ashland Area Development Corporation, a joint loan from Northern State Bank and Forward Community Investments, and loans from Co-op members. The finished space will include 6,000 square feet of retail grocery, plus a deli, seating area, and cooking classroom. Current opening of the new Co-op is projected to be in early fall of 2014.
