CHIP for Change: Help Us Build a Better Food System

The next time you shop at the Co-op, your cashier will ask you if you would like to CHIP your change. What exactly is CHIP? Here are the answers to some of the questions you might have about the program.

What is CHIP for Change?
CHIP for Change is a donation program run by the Chequamegon Food Co-op.

Where does CHIP money go?
Money donated at the register helps fund our microloan program, which in turn helps local farmers and food producers pay for small projects and equipment.

How do I CHIP?
Your cashier will ask if you want to CHIP your change. If you say yes, your sales total will be rounded up to the next highest dollar. The balance between your sales total and that dollar amount is donated to CHIP.

Why should I CHIP?
Our microloans have helped fund everything from
a walk-behind tractor to rootstock. By investing in local farms and food producers, we will increase the availability of local food products.

Is my CHIP donation tax deductible?
Since the Chequamegon Food Co-op is a member-owned corporation, donations are not tax deductible. Your donation is a much-appreciated investment in our local food system.
