What’s Fresh? Winter Squash!
Winter squash is loaded with vitamin A (good for eye health) and vitamin C. The carotenoid antioxidants in winter squash may aid in cancer prevention and evidence suggests that polysaccharies in winter squash may help regulate blood sugar. These week we have winter squash (including acorn, buttercup, butterkin, butternut, carnival, delicata, jester, kabocha, and sunshine) from Great Oak Farm in Mason, Wisconsin and Hermit Creek Farm in Highbridge, Wisconsin.

While the weather outside has cooled down, things are heating up in our produce coolers this week! We’ve got a variety of local hot peppers, including fatalii, scorpion, serrano, cayenne, and jalapeño. Capsaisin, the compound that gives peppers their spiciness, has been shown to help relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
