Carbon-Free Challenge

Carbon-Free Challenge

May is “Bike Month” and we’re starting a new project on May 1st!

The Chequamegon Food Co-op is beginning a monthly challenge to encourage community members to ditch their cars and opt for alternative, carbon-free transportation methods. Participants record the distance that they walk, bike, skateboard, e-bike, roller-skate, rollerblade, scooter, among any other forms of carbon-free transportation in an effort to encourage behavior change by emphasizing the environmental impacts of gas-driven transportation.

Clip-boards with sheets to fill out will be at each horseshoe and at the Customer Service desk. This will be an honor system, having the customer fill out their own information every time they come to the Co-op. Total mileage includes the round trip of distance. Carpooling doesn’t count. Sorry. The goal is to go carbon-free. We encourage those who live farther away to get creative with their modes of transportation to/from the Co-op to be included. Say you live in Bayfield… pack your bike, drive to Prentice Park, and bike part of the way to the co-op.
