National Cooperative Grocers – National Cooperative Grocers (NCG) is a business services cooperative for retail food co-ops located throughout the United States. We represent 128 food co-ops operating 165 stores in 35 states with combined annual sales of over $1.4 billion and over 1.3 million consumer-owners. NCG helps unify natural food co-ops in order to optimize operational and marketing resources, strengthen purchasing power, and ultimately offer more value to natural food co-op owners and shoppers everywhere.

Stronger Together – StrongerTogether.coop is a consumer website developed by National Cooperative Grocers (NCG) for a “virtual chain” of over 120 retail food co-ops, operating nearly 160 storefronts, nationwide. StrongerTogether.coop is a place for people to gather on their food journeys. It’s a place to find out more about what’s in your food, where it comes from, where to find great food, how to prepare it, and a whole lot more. It’s also a place to talk with others about food topics you’re exploring, are passionate about, and even want to get involved in.

How Good – How Good is a food rating system that gives consumers trustworthy knowledge of the true cost of their food. Bridging the information gap between the food we buy, the farmer who grows it, and the path it takes to a store, paves the way for an overall more sustainable food system.

Food Alliance – Food Alliance is a 10-year old national nonprofit that provides third-party certification of sustainable agricultural and food handling practices. Food Alliance works with farmers, ranchers, food processors and distributors, verifying marketing claims so consumers can trust their food is grown and processed using sustainable practices. Food Alliance addresses a full range of concerns for labor, animal welfare, and the environment. As a sustainability standard, Food Alliance also requires continual improvement of practices over time.

UW-Extension FoodWise – FoodWIse, previously called Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program (WNEP), is funded by the USDA and is designed to provide nutrition education that helps limited resource families and individuals choose healthful diets, purchase and prepare healthful food and handle it safely, and become more food secure by spending their food dollars wisely. Ashland County sites include: elementary schools, senior centers, Head Start centers, youth clubs, food shelves, and more.
