Hearty Irish Dishes

Ready for a taste of the Emerald Isle? Explore the flavors of Ireland in these hearty Irish meals, perfect for a late winter day.

Irish Bangers & Mash – A traditional Irish dish. And the translation? Sausage and mashed potatoes (this recipe features cabbage in the mash!).

Irish Soda Bread – Start your day off with a bit of toasted, fruity bread. If you are looking for a crusty, hearty bread that requires very little effort, this is the one for you. It’s really like a giant scone, dappled with caraway and raisins. Since it is not a yeast bread, it doesn’t require any rising time; just stir it up and bake!
Irish Buttered Carrots – Irish butter has more flavor and butterfat, make it taste creamier. The thyme and celery leaves add a delicate, fresh flavor to this simple carrot dish.
Irish Stew – Traditional Irish stew uses mutton, but lamb is an excellent substitute (and we have local lamb available). With just a few ingredients, you can cook up a rich stew fit for a chilly night.
Corned Beef & Cabbage – Corned beef was adopted into the diets of Irish immigrants who came to America in the 19th century. The corned beef became a substitute for bacon, which is traditionally used in this dish.
Colcannon – No Irish meal is complete without a big spoonful of creamy colcannon. A heavenly blend of cabbage and potatoes, it makes a perfect companion to roast beef, ham, or even braised tempeh.
Irish Shepherd’s Pie – Invented in the late 1700s as a way to use up leftovers, shepherd’s pie is anything but boring. It’s meat and potatoes married to carrots and peas with gravy thrown in for good measure!
