Bike to the Co-op and SAVE!

bicycle-benefits-ian-web

Ian Klepetar, founder of Bicycle Benefits, is biking across the country to spread the word about the program. Bicycle Benefits is a national effort to encourage bicycling while also supporting local businesses. Cyclists receive specials deals and discounts by biking to businesses and showing their Bicycle Benefits helmet sticker. The stickers cost $5 and are available at most Bicycle Benefits businesses.

While he was here, Ian went to several local businesses to ask if they would like to be part of the program. Basically, cyclists can purchase a Bicycle Benefits sticker for $5 at most participating businesses. They can then show that sticker at those businesses to receive a special offer, such as a discount. Currently, there are eight participating businesses in Ashland: Ashland Baking Company, Bay City Cycles, The Black Cat Coffeehouse, Chequamegon Food Co-op, Gabriele’s German Chocolates, Kravin’ Yogurt, McRae’s True Value, and The Spot. When you show your Bicycle Benefits sticker at the Co-op, you will receive 10% off one item per visit.

The great thing about the sticker is that it is good for discounts nationwide. That means you can buy one sticker and take your helmet all over the country to get perks for riding your bike.
